
Quaint traditional house! The guest house in Bukchon area, flanked by hanok
There are many Korean traditional house ‘Hanok” in Bukchon area as it used to be the residing area for noble people. Streets are flanked by hanok built in Chosun dynasty. Kundaemun Jip is the spotlighted guest house offering a stay at hanok. Kundaemun Jip means a house (Jip) with a big gate (Kundaemun). There is a big gate at the entrance as the name of the hotel suggests. Both the house and gate are genuine and authentic hanok, and older than 70 year-old.
Once stepping into inside, there is a hanok courtyard producing a luxurious atmosphere. The hotel is consist of 5 rooms, independent room in a separated house, the most popular sarangbang and 3 rooms in the main house. All rooms have different layout. E.g. room with the bathroom installed outside the room, room with the bed
All rooms have A/C and ondol to comfortably control room temperatures. There is no door lock in the rooms, but a lock and key can be borrowed at the front desk. You can also deposit valuables with the front desk for more security.
Healthy breakfast with serials, bread and fruits is served in the share space, where you can relax and feel like home. Iron available in the share space. Wi-Fi is available in every single room and there is a laptop computer for lend. Two young women who have studied and lived abroad run the house, and they are in a very good command of English. Relax and relieve the tiredness with the taste of traditional atmosphere at the comfortable hanok. |
